Pigments, the basic substance of painted colour, intensity,

luminosity and colour strength.

From this basic building block it is very easy to create your own colour.

Colour consists mainly of pigment and binder. Watercolour, acrylic, gouache, oil and tempera paints are mixed with other binders and additives. 

In this alchemical workshop, we will go through the paint production process and make our own watercolour, acrylic or gouache paint.

 

 

And of course we will also try out our freshly made paint! Newborn colour becomes newborn works of art!

 

 

I will provide a few pots of paint for you to take away.

It would be nice if you could also bring small containers for watercolour or gouache paint. To store acrylic paint, you will need small airtight containers, such as empty tubes, which I will not provide.

 

 

You are also welcome to bring your own pigments. It is also possible to make colour from finely ground earth pigments, bring your own!
